A major storm is impacting the NW portion of the US and as it moves inland will be producing accumulating snow over the mountains of OR/ID/MT/UTWY and western CO. The heart of the Rocky Mountains is lacking in snowfall as can be seen by the SWE map below. Although this is just one storm, over the next few days the SWE numbers should start to climb. This is not a drought busting storm by any means but it is well timed and is impacting areas that need the moisture the most. Many of the higher mountain ranges will be measuring the snow by the foot. Hopefully Mother Nature will follow through with a few more of these moisture laden Pacific systems over the next few weeks?
