How It Works

We plot your exact location in our weather software and keep you informed of fast changing electrical storms that will impact your location via the Skyview Weather App. We will advise of lightning caution, lightning risk and always give an all clear when the risk has passed.

Lightning Risk

Lightning has been either detected by the network or is highly likely within your danger zone.

Lightning Caution

Lightning may be detected but is on the fringes of your danger zone and the storm is moving away with a relatively low risk or no lightning is detected but it cannot be completely ruled out.

All Clear

Lightning risk has passed.

Lightning Detection Network Monitoring

Skyview Weather monitors near real time lightning data networks and notifies your facility when lightning has been detected within a predetermined distance of your location or if a storm is strengthening in your danger zone and lightning appears to be imminent. This information helps maximize safety while minimizing delays from lightning outside your course’s predetermined danger area.

In addition to monitoring lightning data, Skyview Weather monitors the latest NWS Doppler radar for developing storms, as well as satellite imagery and surface observation data to detect possible storm development. If a storm is developing overhead we will not necessarily wait for a strike to be detected to declare a “lightning risk” as the first strikes from a storm can be the most dangerous. Our proactive approach to lightning is what sets Skyview Weather apart from your typical lightning notification services.

Precise Storm Delay Information

Skyview Weather provides estimates on storm duration, allowing planning information to be given to clients, allowing your facility to provide enhanced customer service!
